Three months
before the month of August was filled with much prayer for the preparation of
the ISLT level two which was scheduled for the 10-17th of August at Willow Park
campsite in Bulawayo.
On the
evening of the 11th of August a team of 14 passionate servants of the kingdom
from Bulawayo, Harare, Zambia, United Kingdom and South Africa sat together in
a cosy thatched hall sharing who they were and their expectations of the week
which lay ahead of them.
Challenged by a call to abide in God in-order to bear
fruit in John 15:1-5, the team went before the Lord asking Him to
lay specific burdens for his kingdom, which is exactly what the Lord did to all
of us by the evening of the 17th of August.
All is well that
starts well and ends well; such was the case of this year’s level two training,
the second of its kind on Zimbabwean soil. The training challenges and exposes
kingdom workers to engage their bible handling skills together with their
leadership abilities to influence society for the supremacy of Christ through sport.
Theoretical
sessions ranging from cultural studies, team leadership, valuing sport,
Community, Youth Children and Sport (CYCAS) and Handling the Bible, coupled
with intense practical activities left the team refined for the mission field
as they left willow to serve effectively in their respective areas of ministry.
Key highlights included the team’s individual project action plan session held on the last
day, which allowed them to focus on what they had learnt in light of what they
were going to do in their 1st month after their return back home.
Secondly
a practical life-skills/fun games day with 30 young girls from a local girls orphanage for three hours.
Prayer points
- Thanksgiving to God for making the training a success
- The exposed participants to be bold and courageous on the mission field as they set out to be effective disciple makers for the kingdom.
- SCOZ growth and continued partnership with Youth for Christ, Operation Mobilisation and other ministries associated with us.
- Investors in the sports ministry movement
